Mental Health and Student Well-Being

Our students' mental health is crucial to their academic success and overall well-being. I believe in creating a supportive school environment where every student feels valued and understood. Supporting teachers in professional development opportunities on culturally responsive teaching practices will contribute to the sense of belonging of their students. Further, by continuing to invest in mental health services, we can help students navigate challenges and thrive both in and out of the classroom. It is the responsibility of the school board to ensure district policies are trauma-informed and contribute to a culture of caring. 

Equity and Inclusion

Every child deserves access to a high-quality education, regardless of their background or circumstances. Inclusive school policies are fundamental to creating a learning environment where every student feels valued, respected, and empowered to succeed. School board members have the responsibility and opportunity to lead by example in the development and implementation of these policies, ensuring that schools not only reflect the diversity of their communities but also actively promote equity and inclusion in all aspects of education. By doing so, they contribute to a school culture that prepares students to be compassionate, informed, and engaged members of a diverse society.

School Safety and Security

The safety of our students and staff is non-negotiable. I support comprehensive safety measures that protect our schools from both physical threats and emotional harm, while ensuring that our schools remain welcoming and conducive to learning. School safety goes beyond physical security. It includes creating a safe environment where students are free from bullying, harassment, and discrimination. I will advocate for policies that address all aspects of school safety.

Parental and Community Involvement

Strong schools are built on strong community partnerships. I will ensure that parents, teachers, and community members have a voice in the decisions that affect our schools. Additionally, I will work to build trust and engage the underserved voices in our community. Together, we can create a collaborative environment where everyone’s input is valued. Together, we can create a supportive, secure, and inclusive educational environment where every student has the opportunity to thrive.
